PEACE GO WITH YOU, BROTHER

Quel plus bel hommage à Gil Scott Heron que ce titre de circonstance : "Peace Go With You Brother" ? Ses chansons m'accompagnent quasiment depuis le début de ma quête du groove parfait, et continueront de m'habiter à jamais.

"Peace Go With You, Brother". This title opens the Winter in America album recorded in 1974. Here is my message and my tribute to the great Gil Scott Heron who passed away last week-end. His songs will always be a part of me.

Coup de tête

C'est le titre de l'album de Kip Hanrahan sur lequel on trouve cette belle ballade "India song", la bande son ideale de mon retour de vacances. On y croise la fine fleure de la scène New Yorkaise du début des années 80 : Daniel Ponce, Chico Freeman, Bill Laswell, Arto Lindsay et meme notre ami Byard Lancaster! A (re)decouvrir.

MO KOLOURS - EP 1 : DRUM TALKING

On trouve un peu de tout dans le premier EP de Mo Kolours, "Drum Talking" : de la soul, des influences dub, un esprit hip-hop et des beats percussifs qui renvoient au séga. Mais au final, l'univers de ce batteur et chanteur d'origine mauricienne ne ressemble à rien d'autre et sonne comme l'une des plus belles surprises du moment (plus d'infos ici).

We can find and hear a lot of things in the debut EP from Mo Kolours, "Drum Talking" : some soul, dub influences, an hip-hop spirit and some percussive beats who evokes sega music. But at the end, the universe of this half-Mauritian percussionist and vocalist looks like nothing else known and sounds like one of the most beautiful surprises of the moment (more infos right here).
